Description.

Last day to travel the few miles that separate us from Murcia. First of all, from Fortuna, we have to recover the original path in Fenazar TransMurciana. From here we follow the Rambla Salada to the heads of the Black Cave that separate us from the Vega del Segura. Once passed, descend to Cabeza de Torres. There is only through the maze of farm roads of the plain, Murcia and head into the cathedral, worthy end. Stage

easy and very short (less than 50 km), conditioned by the previous stages, which serves as a "tribute" after several tough days. The only difficulty will ascend to the Lomas de la Cuesta, comfortable if not for two short Rampone. To enjoy the principle of descent, which is done by track-rail. Rested, we have all afternoon to enjoy Murcia city.

Chronicle.

After two weeks of anticyclonic dominance over the peninsula, changes ahead. And it rained at night, and today I wake up with a gale. Fortunately the rain was very weak and the wind strong from the northwest but will only be a nuisance the first kilometer.

forwarding Fortuna yesterday, forcing me to recover the route., for which the easiest is to follow the road MU-411 (some traffic but good shoulder) from Fortuna to Archena, linking in Fenazar. Are 7.5 miles with two light promotion, which will be complicated by the strong wind against.

Sierra de la Espada, Sierra de la Pila and Sierra Quibo from Fenazar

In Fenazar turn left to take the road to the cemetery the cemetery, where the asphalt ends. My second fear is confirmed a meters later. Despite the rain the night there was a lot, loamy field where the track is not very footprint, creates zones of mud really bad. In about 20 feet wet, the bike is blocked by the mud. What promised to be a leisurely stroll to Murcia can become a living hell. Fortunately, even with the ground a little heavy, I'll never find me in the same situation.

keep walking along the Rambla Salada, in slight decline, from close to the Brave, to cross the road A-5. Appears white and yellow signs of PR-MU Country Tourist Route 82 Molina de Segura will continue much of the day.

Quibo
Sierra de la Espada, Sierra de la Pila and Sierra

Continue straight, crossing the Rambla Salada and Main Canal on the left bank of the Tajo-Segura to the track that follows the straight line from the Valencian, begin the ascent to the heads of Cueva Negra (4.5 km and 180 m climb). Comfortable and good strong rise (slightly worse at first, much improved since entering the pine forest), were it not for two grueling Rampone near the end. Deserves to stop and enjoy the last views of the mountains that have been left behind us (Sierra de la Espada, the battery and Quibo). To the east stands the Sierra de Orihuela.

Sierra de Orihuela
Just started the descent, we left the Valencian twine, and we first see Murcia city, from Lomas Cuesta Alta. After such a long road of pilgrimage, one could say that is the "Monte do Gozo" of TransMurciana. With that excitement, I enjoy even more of the beautiful stretch of rail remains front, among the pines through the Rambla de Cuesta Alta.

Murcia and Carrascoy

When faced with the A-7 definitely leave the solitude of the ways to get into Vega del Segura. After crossing Cabezo de Torres, the road becomes a maze of agricultural roads between ditches, cottages and second homes. At first no traffic, it increases as we approach the capital, where we entered the university. There is only stroll to the Cathedral.

Description.

travel the Altiplano, at the foot of the Sierra del Buey, from Yecla Jumilla up and then turn south. Among the Sierras Serral and Salinas, we approached the Sierra del Carche that we west, reaching Homes Ibañez (place where it enters the GR-7 in Murcia from Alicante). After crossing the Rambla de la Raja, ascend to the Sierra de la Pila, that will cross Cold Harbor, with the Sierra Quibo east, where it begins the long descent to the Vega del Segura. Passing through the Garapacha the foot of La Pila, descend along the Rambla del Cantalar between the Sierra and the Sierra Place Bath to Fortuna.

We left the Altiplano, between olive groves and almond trees and vines, to cross the Aleppo pines of the Sierras Carche and battery, and begin to approach the Vega del Segura.

Another of the hardest stages of the TransMurciana. The longer the distance, with its 95 kilometers, and one of the most cycling time, 6 hours (over 8 hours in total). About 1,000 meters of ascent, divided into three ports: one soft, the Alto Yecla width before and two drives, the passage through the Sierra del Carche, and Cold Harbor in the Sierra de la Pila.

TransMurciana According to the Web (Section 18 Jumilla-La Garapacha ) the stage finish in La Garapacha, but when in doubt of the property decided to continue to La Fortuna, which has more range of accommodation, leaving the original route near Las Casicas. During the preparation of the trip could not find the Hospedería Rural La Garapacha , so it would not be necessary to deviate.

Chronicle.

crossed the city to leave Jumilla, after passing through an industrial area for the Way of Jimena, paved until near the house of Lawyer. After circling the east the hills of Hermanillos, continue along the Rambla de la Jimena, among the small bushes and saw the shadow of the Ox Mountains in gentle climb up smooth Height Width.

The Hermanillos and the Sierra del Buey

Near the Casa del Cura, linked with a paved runway on the site of the Bohalage in the foothills of La Pava leads us to the big ring around Yecla. After crossing, continue on a track that prevents the N-344 and the Poligono Industrial Las Tejeras. Although the track downloaded from the web ( Section 17 Jumilla-Yecla ) around the south of Castle Hill, I decided to go straight into Yecla. I have a long day ahead and I have not decided definitely where I'll stop.

Without stopping a lot (as in the case of Cieza, I have yet to return to visit more calmly Yecla) continue my journey. Yecla we left along the road C-3223, leading to Pinoso, on the ring, where we left to continue along the old road towards Abanilla the Cerricos del Cano and Portichuelo (narrow passage between the Sierra del Serral and Teja).

At step by Portichuelo agree briefly with the Cañada Real de los Serrano, but we will pass by the road C-3223. The creek passes through a small hill next to the Punta del Portichuelo, is a sign of the PR-MU 90 Serral Trail.

Serral Sierra and Sierra de las Salinas

After about 700 meters down the road, we leave to continue paved road (Carretera de la Hoya's Moñigal) parallel to the road, past the Casa de la Selva, to the Casa de la Hoya's Moñigal. We begin the ascent to Raspay (7.4 km and 220 m climb) where left by a road with a sign in poor condition (short stretch drive down the hill) to go to MU-15-a. We took the paved road that leads to Raspay.

Raspay Leaving by road to the diversion of the track (Ivy Road) which gives access to Regional Park Sierra del Carche . At the end of the slope (second port ended the hard day we had started at the Casa de la Hoya's Moñigal) left the track and take the Vereda de las Casas de Castilla, declining to Casas Ibanez. At this point comes in Murcia GR-7, from Pinoso, after crossing the Comunidad Valenciana from Fred. To our right the mountains of Reclot Alicante, Algaiat, and sticking to the bottom profile of the Sierra del Cid. On the horizon we have the Quibo Sierra and the Sierra de la Pila where we are headed.

Quibo
Sierra and Sierra de la Pila

After a rapid descent, connect with the road C-3213 of Jumilla pines, which continue for a mile to the turnoff to Houses of the Holy Spirit, and go out then to the A-28, which bears the Solana de la Raja, to Torre del Rico.

Camino de la Sierra de la Pila

By Poveda Cañada Road (paved road) we descend to cross MU-19-ay the Rambla de la Raja, to continue to La Zarza. Turn right by the MU-10-a, after about 600 meters, abandon it and begin the ascent at Cold Harbor, by Way of Peralejo and the Valencian Cordel, among the pines of the Sierra de la Pila (4.5 km and 250 m climb). Although the beginning is on track, the rest is asphalt, with a ramp (maximum 12%), but gentle slope (average gradient of 6%) but demanding, after more than 75 kilometers of road. Consolation is that once up, all that remains is downhill.

Sierra Carche from the Sierra de la Pila

From Cold Harbor, go down the Barranco de las Canas in the shady side of the Sierra de la Pila, to connect with the MU-17-road to Fuente Blanca. The track follows a path to enter shortcut in the town but worth it. Following the road, on the top of the stack, we arrived at the Garapacha (short but "damn" rise). At this moment I discover the Hospedería Rural La Garapacha (can not find accommodation in preparing the route) and avoiding the diversion to Fortuna.

the battery near the Garapacha

I decided to stop at Fortuna., I appreciate the opportunity to reach Fenazar, but fatigue made me decide to continue on the MU-17-a, with 10 miles but in decline and without loss. About The Casicas, left the track of the TransMurciana, which continues to follow the straight line from the Valencian (poster track livestock), for the landing and up Fenazar Huron, between the Sierra Place to the east and the Sierra de la Espada west.

Cortado de las Peñas

From The Casicas, the road continues down the Rambla del Cantalar wedged between the Sierra's Place and Sierra del Cortado bath until the Peñas, where we passed the rugged landscape of the Sierra the battery across the plain where it sits Fortuna. Meeting red and white Trail belonging to Lignum Crucis (Abanilla-Ulea) .

Accommodation: Hotel 2 * Costs. 30 €. Of the three hotels that are in Fortune's just the only one in the town. The other two are in Los Banos, 3 kilometers, where the Fortuna Spa. Rather expensive but correct. Very good dinner menu.

H. Output: 9:19; H. Arrival: 16:15.

Description.

From Calasparra, crossed the river Segura and walk the shady side of the Sierra del Puerto and Donkey head, near the provincial border between Murcia and Albacete. After rounding the head of the Donkey, the Altiplano atavesamos Murcia, through the sale of the Olive, crossing the Rambla del Jew and continue on the sunny side of the Sierra Larga. Overcome the Sierra de Santa Ana, descend to Jumilla. Much of the itinerary, except the passage through the Sierra del Picarcho coincides with the Camino del Altiplano-GR 251 .

We cross the steppes of the Altiplano, between cultivated fields and pine forests in the shadows of the mountains. Striking and attractive environment, landscape dominated by scrub steppe, where the profile of the mountain stands more strongly in the great plain.

Stage hard with 65 miles and climbing nearly 1,000 feet, because the two long climbs, at the Eternal Hills and Santa Ana Collado, and firm rocky in some sections, especially the passage of the Sierra Larga. It also influences the fatigue accumulated over the past two days. A single point of conflict, the fording of the Rambla del Jew.

Calasparra We left the C-3314 (little traffic but fast, good shoulder), Jumilla address falling into the river Segura, growing area of their famous rice, close to the Argos river mouth. One possibility is to follow the Path of Rice Ecotourism Itinerary. Is very close, going up the river Segura the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope .

Bordering the Sierra del Puerto

After crossing the Segura, take the detour through the quiet road leading to the Neighborhood of station towards the Sierra del Puerto. We began the first climb of the day, the Alto de las Lomas del Eterno (15 km and 390 m climb). Once the railway line Madrid-Cartagena, we leave the asphalt track around the western foothills of the mountains. Great views on the poplar and rice fields in Dehesas del Segura.

Rambla del gutter. Cerro de los Monteses

The track goes in gradually in the shadow of the Sierra del Puerto, in the direction of narrowing between the Hill of the Monteses and Chatres. The route follows the path of the Manchego or Cordal of Rotas, the boundary between the Region of Murcia, Albacete province, going up the Boulevard of the gutter to over the hill of Puerto Wrong.

Chatres and Cerro Monteses the

begins in Puerto Wrong Section Picarcho-Ass Head Ecotourism Itinerary The Picarcho-Calasparra, which will continue until the Rambla de Agua Amarga. There is still a mile uphill to the top, where we have a breathtaking view of the Sierra de Cabeza del Ass.

Umbria de la Sierra Head Ass

A short descent from the shadow of the Sierra Blanca Cuesta puts us on the top of head Donkey, where you can admire an impressive overview that covers much of the route ahead. To the north, the Sierra del Picarcho (well since the name), south of Sierra Larga, and the plain between the plateau that joins Calasparra and Jumilla.

The Ass Head Picarcho from

comes a moment of doubt. Following the rapid decline in the walls of the head of an ass, we came to the Rambla del Agua Amarga. Here both the Camino del Altiplano as ecotourism trails, separate from the path of the TransMurciana, as they continue to head towards the Sierra Picarcho of crossing the A-30/N-301 along the Picarcho Hostel (I have not found any information on it), to go on the road to Calasparra Jumilla near the source of the Jew, where they rejoin. If you do not want to stop the sale of the Olive may be a good alternative.

Donkey Head

I decide to continue following the track downloaded from the web, parallel to the promenade, refers to the C-3314 Calasparra to Jumilla, passes through the Venta del Olivo. It follows the same road (little traffic but fast) about 3.5 miles (Route signs of Ecotourism The Picarcho-Calasparra, where ends) and we turned right onto a dirt road between a field of peach trees. Please note, the property has a locked gate that was open when I passed. Otherwise you can continue the C-3314 for another 3 miles to the Casa de la Solana, and take the Camino Viejo de la Fuente del Peral to Jumilla, which connects to the TransMurciana shortly after the Jewish Rambla.

The Picarcho and Jewish Rambla del

The trail leads to ruins of the House of moths which ends next to the Rambla del Jew. The road fords the gully, the only spot of the day. A trail descends into the ravine to cross the channel, which can present problems depending on the amount of water. There seems no way because the riparian vegetation, but after a few meters walk looking for the best place, find a site but getting rained out. Meeting Across the road are the marks of the Altiplano-GR 251 which reassured me and in helping to find the exit of the gully, for which there is traced a steep sandy slope (short stretch with the bike on back .) And above refers to a track and we can return to pedaling.

Sierra Trail Long

started the second long climb of the day to the Collado de Santa Ana (21.50 km and 470 m ascent .) Not too demanding, the more difficult parts will find them at first, to get at the foot of the mountains, and finally, the last 3 miles up the hill. Although not too bad, the sign anything bother pedaling rocky the shadow of the mountain.

Sierra Long

Leaving the Sierra de Cabeza del Donkey and The Picarcho, we crossed the Altiplano in the direction of the shadow of the Sierra Larga. With the fatigue accumulated in the last days, I find it very hard to connect with the Sierra Forest Long Track. Softer and went through the shade, under the walls of the Sierra Long (either because the name) until you cross the gorge of the barges, where we turn east towards the Cenajo of Buitrera.

Sierra de los Alacranes and Sierra de Santa Ana

Solana After crossing the border of the Cenajo Buitrera and of Santiago, near the Fountain of Buitrera, the track ascends by a couple of mushrooms to the Collado de Santa Ana is just down to Jumilla. Exceeded the Monastery of Santa Ana del Monte, a small road leads to the Chapel of St. Augustine where we enter Jumilla.

Jumilla

Accommodation: Hotel 3 * Monreal. 44 €. There are two hotels in Jumilla (Pius XII and Monreal), as the Board The pipe has been closed for some time. TransMurciana 11. Sewer-Calasparra. TransMurciana

For the Vega del Segura and the GR 7 to the Altiplano.

Date: 11/02/2011 .
Dist: 90.27 km ; Asc.: 950 m.; T. Tot.: 9:26; T. Mov.: 6:51.
H. Max.: 486 m.; V. Med Mov.: 13.2 km / h; IBP.: 103BC.
H. Output: 8:39; H. Arrival: 18:05.

Description.

Today takes us from the Vega del Segura Murcia close to the Highlands of Calasparra. Sailed up the River Segura, first through the Green Corridor of the River Segura, near Molina de Segura, and Ceuti to Archena Lorqui, then tour the Valley of Ricote through Ulea, Eyes, White and Abarán; to finish in Cieza at the foot of the Sierra del Oro Already without the company of the great river, following the GR 7, the Sierra del Almorchón surround for the sunshine of the Sierras de la Palera and Mill, reach Calasparra.

Stage 5 stars, with a variety of landscapes. For the Vega del Segura, among orchards and fields of work, we move from the plains of Molina del Segura where the river runs at home, to the Valley of Ricote, which flows through a slot open in their saws among orchards on steep enclosed slopes. From Cieza, unaccompanied water changes completely, gullies, dry crops and almond and sharp hills covered with scrub and pines.

The hardest stage of all TransMurciana, with 90 km, nearly 1,000 m. of accumulated ascent, and almost 7 hours pedaling. Although the first 30 miles really comfortable (flat with good sound), stage greatly increased the difficulty, with stretches of trail and many tracks not so good, and above all, with three tough climbs in the end.

TransMurciana 11. Sewer-Calasparra at EveryTrail

Profile.

Chronicle.

From Sewer, accommodation facilities rather difficult to organize the next steps. Archena is only 30 kilometers. Cieza, about 55 kilometers, would be a good option, but there are only houses, and the Rural Youth Watchtower I think is only for groups. In any case, stopping in Cieza, the next step would be or very short (33 km to Calasparra) or very long (almost 100 to Jumilla).

Today I go a little earlier than usual, with many miles ahead. From Sewer binds readily to the green corridor, which comes from Murcia along the Segura, coming soon to the Contraparada Dam.

Dam of Contraparada

Until the entry into Archena will visit the Green Corridor of the River Segura, almost flat, closed course traffic, although there is a paved stretch that can pass the car, and it seems to be done on both sides of the river (I follow the track downloaded from the website of the TransMurciana).

A-7 on the river Segura

Solo be apart of the main channel twice to cross the fords of Rambla Salada and Mula River. Very close to the route are stocks Molina de Segura , Lorqui and Ceutí . Near Molina de Segura, the route coincides with the 127 GR Segura River, and find the yellow arrows that indicate the road southeast Murcia. From The Algaida Ecotourism Route follows the route of the Canal that crosses a bridge and into Archena Segura its River Walk.

Although not required (it can continue under the Iron Bridge on the river walk) entered Archena seeking tourist. It is located in the Mansion of Villarias. I confirm the issue of accommodation in Cieza, but I get the data from a rural home where she could stay ( La Linda Tapada , 4 km from Cieza in the Paraje de las Ramblas, the Rural Housing Palmera-Moya in the Place de la Palmera and data Camping Hatcheries in Calasparra). I left with the desire to visit Archena but I continue.

Spa Road Following is reached Los Baños, where is located the Spa Archena. While people spend in the spa bath robe back, enjoy the "rich life" breakfast quietly in the shade in the garden of the Casino, momentarily transported to the nineteenth century.

Casino. Archena Spa

Archena From pedaled along the Segura between the mountains of Valle de Ricote . We leave behind the placid Green Corridor, to move along pathways, riverside walks, tracks and road, always near a river.

crossed the spa complex to follow a trail near the river on the back of the hotel. Upon exiting the access road, near the Casa de la Morra, a sticking point. You have to leave the asphalt path between hurdles unclear to bordering a field of lemon, avoiding a ditch and out to an electrical transformer, where it joins the walk that leads to Villanueva del Río Segura.

Villanueva del Río Segura

begins one of the most beautiful stretches of the day, between the towns of Villanueva del Río Segura, Ulea and eyes, beneath the Sierras de Ulea, Salitre and Chinte. We connect with the Villanueva-Leg-Eyes Ulea Ecotourism Itinerary Ricote Valley (where signs are posted and ready), crossing the road safely at MU-523 (at this point we walked the Camino de la Vera Cruz de Abanilla) joining Villanueva and Ulea and continues for the left.

Eyes. Sierra Salitre and Serra Chinte

At the height of a large pipe (Taibilla Canal Drive) another sticking point. The track passes under the pipe and back up the road (narrow stretch of road between fruit, with stretches and forced to walk an area of stairs). I think it is easier to follow the signs that goes up, also the road along the canal. Once on the road from Villanueva, crossed the Salto de la Novia and enter Ojós .

Vega del Segura near eyes

From here, follow the road MU-520 (low traffic) amounting between the Sierra del Salitre and steep walls of the Sierra Chinte, with gardens and orchards to our feet, to a narrowing that leads to the Dam of eyes, and borders the reservoir to reach Blanca, nestled below the Sierra del Solan.

White Before entering the New Bridge, the route continues along the B-14, which will continue for a little less than a mile to the Toll, where we follow the PR-MU 8 Trail the Moriscos. Evita the asphalt near the river, between the fruit and vegetable gardens, walking trail stretches of land for road fun and, after crossing the Segura near the Alamadenes Dam, Abarán reach.

Reaching Abarán

last crossed the river, next to the Wheel of Candelon, to continue to Cieza, by a track-path by the river of Menjú soto, including riparian forests, with the Cerro de la Atalaya sharp and Our Lady of Good Success to our left.

Cerro de la Atalaya near Cieza

lie ahead 35 kilometers of land pretty hard to Calasparra, so I decide to continue without Cieza enter (is close to the other side of the bridge Wire.) It's good to have a good excuse to return in the future, to visit places that have been seen.

At this point connect with GR 7 not leave until we reach Calasparra. The trail continues along the sunny side of the Cerro de la Atalaya, with magnificent views of the city of Cieza. Start the first climb of the day drive to the Casa de la Magdalena (about 6 km and 180 m climb). On the Trail Bridge (the first ramp-Cuesta de las Cabras, is the hardest with 14% slope), linked with the C-330, which continued for nearly a mile, leaving it on the bridge to continue Meco Old Way of Boxes (track with some rocky and some ramp section) with the Sierra del Oro to the south.

Camino de la Fuente de France

The route crosses the road C-330, next to the Casa de la Magdalena, and continue down the path of the Source of France, under the head of the beat and the Alto de la Higuera, to the Gully Reservoir. On the horizon and the imposing shape of Almorchón. First and only encounter with a young hiker Alicante Orihuela comes from doing in the GR 7 (crash information and videos on your blog Hiking GR).

Almorchón and Gully Reservoir

Start a
of the most spectacular stretches. Between us and the Almorchón, which will surround its northern slope, is interposed Gully Reservoir. The track gets worse and drops sharply toward the end of the reservoir, which is crossed by a small path. Is equally inclined to climb out (although track, tilting forces me to walk up pushing the bike). Although we are very close to the Almorchón, the track takes a long detour to Mount Mesonero away, to re turn to our goal.

Almorchón Sierra

can already distinguish the track ascends the south slope to the gap between the Almorchón Rock of Antonio (3 km and 175 m climb). Before you can descend the Barranco de la Murta small to begin with tougher slopes, along with the firm worse. Sweeten a little view of the sharp rise in Rock of Antonio, and the panorama of the route that we bring from Cieza, with the Sierra del Oro in the background.

Rock of Antonio and Sierra del Oro

From
Gap you can see the territory of the Altiplano between Calasparra and Jumilla, with the wall of the Sierra de la Cabeza del Donkey, that tomorrow we will skirt the northern slope.

Sierra Donkey Head

The track runs along the shade of Almorchón without losing height to El Fraile, which begins descent to the road leading to the reservoir of Alfonso XIII. The dam collects in this reservoir Quipar the river, which continues to the north, forming a deep and narrow canyon between the Sierra de la Palera and the Sierra de la Albarda, and empties into the river Segura in the Canyon of Almadenes.

Quipar River Almadenes

remains a third and final climb, following the Camino Viejo del Pantano, on the sunny side of the Sierra del Molino (5.5 km and 190 m climb). The pine forests have been with us along the Almorchón and passage through the Sierra de la Palera, should also cover all this promotion. Unfortunately fire in September 2010, has removed all the forest. The vision of the remains of what could be quite depressing. To date, forestry activities still continue, so the track is a bit crushed, which makes just over the rise.

Sierra del Molino

exceeds the height, re-entered the pine forest that was not affected by fire and descend to Calasparra, which is entered after crossing the river Argos. Although there are other housing options are out of Calasparra, in the environment Shrine of Our Lady of Hope, about 4 or 5 miles. I have no very clear how to get my strength and not allow me to be rolling over in his search. I decide to stay at the Hotel Hospedería Constitution.

Lodging: Hotel Hospedería 3 * Constitution. € 45 including breakfast. Located at the entrance of Calasparra in Constitution Square in front of the Commit (not shown in the list of web hosting Murciaturistica , I've been thinking it was a restaurant.). Very nice, is complete but let me stay at one of the apartments available. Manage the Hostel The Reposaderas that is out of Calasparra.

After rounding the sunny side of Peña Away from the Collado de la Zarza descend, by the Rambla de la Santa through the Sanctuary Santa Eulalia , to Totana. From Totana, the Tajo-Segura will be our reference, following Guadalentín Valley, with Sierra Espuña Gebas and ravines to the north and the Sierra de la Muela del Cura and south. Before arriving at the Contraparada Dam on the river Segura, final stage, I turn off to sewers where to find accommodation. From El Berro to Totana follow the Way of the Lower Guadalentín 252-GR.

Awesome Espuña cruise under the peaks (Morrón de Alhama, Paredes de Leyva and Morrón Espuña), among a large pine forest of Aleppo pine, with the extensive valley of Guadalentín at our feet. Other surprises of the day, the lunar landscape Landscape Reservoir Gebas and Algeciras, and the wild Librilla Rambla.

Stage quite hard, one of the longest in the TransMurciana, about 85 km, and accumulating more feet of ascent above 1,000 meters. Like the previous day, has no major ports but there are many small climbs ramps hard, totaling meters and tired at the end of the day.
Profile.

Chronicle.

day dawns with the misty Berro, who eventually lifted, but will do that for part of the rise can not enjoy the scenery. From the door of camping out by the small road directly into the heart of the park. Not leave the road until the Codorniú Ricardo Visitor Center. Just off Route signaling we Ecotourism Path of Water and PR-MU 79 Trail El Berro.

The first climb of the day can be divided into two sections. The first, which will in the mist, even a little high (3.6 km and 170 m ascent), after a short descent to reach the Casa de Leyva. A road, we left to right, back up the Barranco de Leyva Prado Mayor, through the famous Paredes de Leyva, highly valued by the climbers.

Morrón de Alhama

The second (3 km and 170 m ascent), under the walls of Alhama Peppers, Which brings us to the Hill of the Seven Brothers. We are going up near the Casa de Leyva, the large building was tuberculosis sanatorium, and a time youth hostel, now completely abandoned, and a little later the recreation area of the Partridge (bar-restaurant). In the background appear Peña Away and Espuña Peppers, maximum height of the Espuña.

Peña Away

From the pass, the road descends through the ravine Gallego, Espuña crosses the river and continue along the Source of Hilo (bar-restaurant) and the Forest House Huerta Espuña to Ricardo Codorniú Visitor Center. In the center asking for tours mountain biking in the mountains. Two things: You can climb the Barranco de Fuente Blanca Leyva up but the connection to the Collado Bermejo is quite difficult for mountain biking and, an interesting variant can be continued by the PR-MU-59 Trail of Umbria (forest track Cuesta del Marqués) to Collado Bermejo and connect with TransMurciana near The Stables.

Morrón Espuña Morrón Alhama and Paredes de Leyva

Near the visitor center Source is the Rube and the Mirador de la Cabaña, where we took to the road for a few meters. The leave to take the track closed to motor vehicles coming to the right. Worth a stop to admire a panorama of the peaks of Sierra Espuña, from west to east: Morrón Espuña Morron de Alhama and Paredes de Leyva.

Peppers Peppers Redondo and Largo
The track follows the sunny side of Peña paragraph without losing altitude on the slope, in turn, entering through the ravines of Campix and the Carrasquilla, and going to border the hills of Cabezuela de Lobos and Cerro Almorollón. To the south, after Peppers Peppers Redondo and Largo, breathtaking views (today hidden in the mist) Guadaletín Valley and the mountains in the distance-Carrascoy Valley, which separates the Campo de Cartagena.

Espuña and Peppers Peppers Long

Collado Since Bush is the long descent to Totana. The track crosses the Barranco de Santa Ana and continues along the road of Molejones, and asphalt in the direction of Aledo . We did not get to this beautiful medieval village, as in the Arc de Aledo (Overpass of a water channel built in brick), turn right to reach the Sanctuary of Santa Eulalia . Worthwhile detour a few meters and visit the church (rich interior decorated with murals, houses one of the best Mudejar coffered ceilings in the region).

Santuario de Santa Eulalia Interior

is only let us down the road MU-502, initially encased in Barranco Santa Ana, to Totana. Close of Sale of the Rat we met the Canal of the Tajo-Segura, he can continue if we are not down to Totana. I continue to take something and find an ATM. As we approach the traffic increases so must be very careful. It is now one o'clock, and more than 50 miles ahead, I'm a fair bit of time.

crossed back Morti residential area, to join the service road of the Tajo-Segura canal parallel to itself, between the utility of the Espuña and Guadalentín vega. Quiet stretch flat. In Moriana, at the height of Alhama de Murcia, we crossed the road that goes from Central Ricardo Codorniú visitors, and we can use to get down to Alhama de Murcia .

Tajo-Segura Canal

little later lose sight of the valley Guadalentín, hidden behind the Sierra de la Muela, which will border its northern slope. The channel disappears, piped underground, and the way they fit into a small ravine through which flows the River Espuña, increasing the slope. The track comes close to Carmona in the C-3315 and we continue to just over a mile, leaving it to follow a trail through pine forests leading to Monte Muela Public and Pino Gordo (singular tree in the Region of Murcia).

Tajo Segura in the background the Cerro Castellar

A short descent brings us back along the Canal Diversions Tajo-Segura, we leads to the Embalse de la Rambla de Algeciras with magnificent views of the Protected Landscape Gebas Ravines (formations bad lands covered with steppe vegetation.) On the right bank of the dam stands El Castellar belonging to the Sierra del Cura, where we are headed.

Gebas ravines and Embalse de la Rambla de Algeciras

Under the dam wall descend to cross the Rambla Algeciras (ramp's tough 15% to return to the path of the canal). After just over a mile you will definitely leave, taking a track that climbs the hill to the east of Castellar (a mile with an average gradient of 10%).

the Rambla de La Zarza

The track becomes tarmac near the Hermitage of the Bureau and continues to meet with the Highway Northwest C-415 for sale Kabylia, which is crossed with a little detour in Rambla Salada. The final climb of the day, this very soft, the Camino del Barranco del Sordo a pass under the highway A7/N-340.
