Description.
Today the company finally abandoned the sea. After a few miles down the Eagles and Calarreona beaches on the border province of Almeria we head inland following the Rambla de los Arejos. After crowning the Puerto del Carril descend to Pozo de la Higuera, to tour the impressive valley that forms between the Sierras and in the middle of the Beacon, by Field crops extensive Lorca, irrigated with river water Guadalentín. The whole route today follows the High Road Guadalentín-GR 253 and to the extent provincial GR 92.
A last look at the cost to change the landscape, the sandy wadis and mountains bare, with greenhouses and fields of work intercrops. Once across the Sierra de la Carrasquilla, the vast expanse of irrigated agriculture and irrigation canals in the Fields of Lorca will be our partner.
Stage simple and quiet rather tumbleweed, with acceptable mileage (60 km) and without long slope (700 m ascent), with the first 20 miles in gentle ascent, and the rest fairly flat. The only difficulty of the day will be the long sandy stretches of the Rambla de los Arejos that harden much pedaling.

From the board, I retrieve the path of the TransMurciana on the beach west to follow the Eagles promenade to the Rambla de Cañarete. In the Green Casica Private link up with the tracks and trails that provide access to beaches (Matalentisco, Cocón and Cala Mijo). Following the GR 92 as the day before, is a continuous up and down to the coves, interspersed with good track sections and steep stony path, which may force us to put the foot down. Only interrupted by Calarreona step is done for the N-332-3. Pedaling is easier from the Playa de la Higuera, where he began the Four Protected Landscape Calas.
Past the Point Brown, from the Playa de las Palmeras near the ruins Cortijo de Cala Taray, part of the Rambla de los Arejos take us into finally abandoning the sea. La Rambla is gaining height almost imperceptibly, between crops, under the head of the Serrata on our right, and the red head in front. The sandy firm will test our strength and patience. While some was done by agricultural roads, paved with good firm or outside from the coastline, there are long stretches where driving on the same channel, and a real sand. With the small chainring and largest sprocket, and yet further costs.
Near Las Lomas, we left the wadi (the latter lose a little bit and find the path sections with rock solid) to hit the road D-24 (very low traffic) and climb to Puerto del Carril and descend to Pozo de la Higuera between grapefruit plantations.
At the entrance of Pozo de la Higuera to bind to the track that runs along the bed of the Rambla de los Charcones, although I entered the town to have something (can not find the bar that must be the road to Almería) and continue a few meters by the AL-620 (some traffic) to bind to the promenade a little later.
The quiet stroll along the Rambla de los Charcones ends in the Escarihuela, where the track turned into a path, enter the village. We crossed the bed of the ravine by the same AL-620, which can be followed up Escarihuela Slope, although it avoids the asphalt track going through a warehouse in Navarre.
exceeded Slope Escarihuela Alto de la Cuesta, last slope somewhat harder, past the large expanse of field crops Lorca nearly flat. And is still far excel the castle of Lorca, to which we headed. Will be a succession of agricultural roads, including irrigated agriculture, irrigation ditches and canals (crossed by the Canal twice on the right bank of the Tajo Segura) and as we approach Lorca many residential houses. The track becomes tarmac briefly Ceferino (a bar) and definitely in the Jury House, where we connect with the Camino Real de la Vera takes us Lorca.
When would start to wander looking for the board, I find it almost by accident right next to me. Almost happened to me. After a well deserved shower and eat, play afternoon stroll. Unfortunately I do not give you time to get into the castle, but Lorca is well worth a leisurely visit.
I can not thank Rosana, the person who assisted me in the Office of Tourism of Lorca, the great help to organize the accommodation for the following days. It was something that I worry too much and left him virtually resolved. Caravaca De Lorca a few options of accommodation hostel-type hotel, and most of them are houses (hard to find and expensive for a single person). Search the web and phoned to confirm the accommodations.
