Description.
Westbound from The Almudema we walked to the tallest mountain in the Region Murcia, Sierra de Moratalla with Revolcadores (2016 m.). First along the river Quipar, Rambla de Tarragoya and Cañada del Tornajuelo, and then, between the plains of south and Aguzaderas Sierra Gadea Los Mojantes and north, reaching Cañada de la Cruz, at the foot of the Massif de Revolcadores. On the Way to San Juan del Campo and GR-7, between the Gypsy rope (which separates Murcia and Albacete) and the Sierra de Moratalla, crowned Puerto Alto, the highest point of the Transmurciana, and face a long descent down the Rambla de la Rogativa. There is only a short climb along the Arroyo Third to finish at the Sabine, and in the Campo de San Juan.
Day spectacular: the rise among the pines in the mountains of Revolcadores and Bishops, covered with snow after the recent snowfall, the long descent down the boulevard Rambla de la Rogativa, which at its confluence with the Arroyo Third, irons between limestone walls , and a fitting end to the open landscapes of the Campo de San Juan.
stage lasts just under 70 miles and 1,000 meters of ascent, which includes the highest port TransMurciana (Puerto Alto with 1,506 meters). Although very soft (the hardest part, near Port High-average slope 5% and maximum of 8% -), the first 45 miles are uphill, only interrupted by short descent to Cañada de la Cruz. As for the firm, mostly good or asphalt track with no traffic, just hard, a stretch of track in poor condition near the shack, and especially the route between Hornico and the skins (the track with very little use is lost, having to small villages further complicated by the advance). At the end of the day, rising from Arroyo Third, even on pavement, it becomes quite hard.
Profile.
Chronicle.
I leave the Almudema directly by the C-3211-Lorca Caravaca, to take Almudema Bridge C-18 towards Tarragoya with Serrata Sierra as a backdrop. The road (no traffic, I just forward tractors) follows the Cañada de Tarragoya. Shortly after the Torre de la Mata (old watchtower converted into a hotel-restaurant-looking closed) turn right onto a small road that connects Highway Inazares (Caravaca, Puebla de Don Fabrique) A-330 , which leaves little time to continue on the Camino de Lorca. The track across the moor under the Mojantes saw ending in the hamlet of Casablanca (restaurant and gas station.)
crossed the road A-330, and behind the restaurant part of the road Cañada de los Santos (runway with little use, with some sandy sections in poor condition near the Celestino Corral), which takes us through Campillo de Arriba, up to Archivel Camino del Moral (track in good condition). At this point briefly share the itinerary with the Camino de Andalucía, we leave in Hornico.
Start a difficult stretch that will take us to Los Wineskins. At the end of Hornico take a small track between almond just lost among the fields. The old road is closed by vegetation. It is difficult to pedal (very rocky and loose ground, legs to walk) and just ahead, with small villages, most field through the edge of the fields to the Barranco del Rey and the skins. A more comfortable option is to continue from Hornico the Camino de Andalucía, which follows the small paved road that leads directly to Cañada de la Cruz. In the skins, track down a link to same road just before entering the village.
Although we have already covered much of the accumulated slope today in Cañada de la Cruz begins the final ascent to the Port Alto (7.3 km and 220 m climb). A paved trail ascends the broad Rambla de Puerto high among the Roma Rope (belonging to the Sierra the Taibilla, the boundary between the Region of Murcia and Albacete) to the west and the Sierra de Moratalla (with the highest peaks in the region, Ovispo 2014 m. - 1999 m. Revolcadores and -) to the east. Can not hear anything, just the sound of a cute wild boar in the distance. Among pines, as we round the Massif Revolcadores height is gained slightly (3% average gradient of 7.5% maximum) until reaching the Port Alto.
Just port the asphalt ends, to begin the long descent down the Rambla de la Rogativa, one of the best in the TransMurciana. Good strong and moderate slope (a first tranche fast), allow to enjoy the landscape of the valley of the Rogation. At the height of Cortijo Nuevo, the decrease is smooth and even a little up and down, while the Wine Country Rogativa warn us that the chapel is now at hand.
Continuing the descent we are one of the most striking sections, as the boulevard is flanked by walls close limestone, which is the Source of hackberry (recreation area with source). A little later we left the tarmac of the carreterilla that comes from wading Bojadillas and the Rambla de la Rogativa.
me past the Cortijo del Mojon, very nice corner, where they meet the waters of the Rambla de la Rogativa and Third Creek, forming the Arroyo Blanco leads Taibilla Reservoir. The little road turn right following the Third Stream (which is to wade), introduced between walls in the Straits, linking the road MU-702 (little traffic) to Archivel Nerpio. Just beyond the short but tough climb, at this stage of the day until Arroyo Third, it is on the right, to get to the Sabine, and in the Campo de San Juan.
