Description.

Today leads from Caravaca Highlands in the Northwest District, in the fields of the Shire of Mula to Espuña shady. Following Northwest Greenway, the foothills of the Sierras de Quipar, Burete and Lavia, by the headwaters of the Argos and Quipar, through Cehegín we Bullas. After crossing the Mula river at the foot of the Sierra Cambron, we join the Canal Taibilla and walk the shady Espuña to ascend to El Berro. The itinerary also coincides largely with: Road GR 250 Apostle of the Bullas Caravaca, and the Low Road Guadalentín-GR 252 from Bullas to El Berro.

biking in the northwest area, varied landscape, alternating between rainfed crops, almonds and vineyards of the Highlands, and the pine forest and scrubland of Mediterranean scrub in the mountains of Quipar, Lavia and Cambron, ending in the dense pine forests in the shade of Espuña .

Although the distance, about 75 km, and promotion, just under 900 m., are not excessive, the stage ends up being hard. There is very hilly, but several small harbors (the passage through the Sierra del Cambron, promotion to the Casa de la Muela and posted to El Berro), none of which exceeds 200 m. unevenness, but will undermine the forces. Another factor that hardens the route, is a firm stony many Taibilla sections of the Canal, which is very inconvenient pedaling.

Profile.

Chronicle.

In Caravaca de la Cruz, from the lodge go to the Arco Plaza (Paseo del Puerto, Temple Square, the Loch Street and Main Street), I go to the Plaza del Arco , starting point of today's stage.

Plaza del Arco. Caravaca de la Cruz

started following the Northwest Greenway, beginning at the exit of Caravaca de la Cruz. Firm has compacted asphalt and gravel, several viaducts (river Argos, Arroyo and Arroyo Burete Father Sinner) and a tunnel (about 200 m) lit. Saying that there are two points where cuts: the passage through Cehegín (you have to stroll a bit further to cross the almarjal industrial estate) and the entrance to Bullas (done by a local road, with a ramp to 7%). After passing through the Ruins of Begastri near Cehegín, the route leaves the flat and is sandwiched between the foothills of the Sierra de Burete, steep stretch of hills and ravines among the pines, which resolved with cuts and bridges.

Cehegín from Greenway
In Bullas left the Northwest Greenway, which continues to Mula, and where the road continues -GR 250 Apostol. We turn to south to new homes with interline Under Way Guadalentín-GR 252. Definitely leave the plains of the Shire of Mula to delve into the hills of the Sierra de Lavia, Cambron and Pedro Ponce.

Ucenda Sierra Cambron near

continuous route for agricultural tracks and small roads on the Plain Bullas to cross the Mula River in the shadow of Cerro del Castellar. Skirting the hill, near Ucenda Homes, leave the asphalt a track (track livestock indicator panel), starting the climb to Alto del Silo.

Near the Casa del Manzano
After that, between Aleppo pines punctuated by large almond, now flower, go down the small valley of Manzano to face the climb to the top of Pinar Hermoso, the boundary between the basins of the rivers Mula and Pliego.

On the Precipice of Cercedilla

descent starts Zarzadilla Ravine, in the foothills of the Sierra del Cambron under the rope of the jungle, in search of Channel Taibilla. Very nice stretch, even with all the almond blossom. Arriving at the House Up Zarzadilla the TransMurciana not follow the GR. The trail continues along the bottom of the gorge (the boldest can try), while we take a short detour (on road MU-503 and the access track to Zarzadilla).

Near the White Water Homes, crossed under one of the aqueducts Taibilla Canal and connect with the Canal Road. Wide track which serves the channel, marked with kilometer markers, virtually flat and tree-lined sections. It would be a delightful walk if not for the strong too loose stone.

Tennis Channel Taibilla

front of us the shadow of the Espuña, new home nearby, although it will take to arrive, since the channel gives a wide berth to go on Road C-5 (there is a Hotel Rural Casas Nuevas Hospedería ). A stop at the Bar Teresa for a drink and recharge for the last mile.

New Homes in Sierra Espuña

part New Home Trail Ecotourism Itinerary Espuña Water (Casas The new-source Portuguese-Totana), which largely followed. This performance has significantly improved the firm Canal Road (travel channel itself buried under Morrón Goat) which continue under the walls of the Goat Peppers.

At the height of the Deer Leap, a striking narrowing, left the Ecotourism Route, which amounts to Apurchil Hoya, beginning a stretch of really bad sign (many loose rocks) with the added difficulty of increasing slope (between riots went up the Barranco de la Sepultura).

Barranco de la Sepultura. Perona high

already recovered Water Path, improves the firm and continue on the shady side of the Gorge Sepultura to Treebeard, from where and z are distinguished for promotion to the Casa de la Muela, about two miles on the toughest slopes (average 5 % and 7.5% maximum). Since the house is an interesting overview of Espuña karst landscape, with the Caves de la Hoz, impeller, The Stone of panic grass and pestle.

Climbing the Casa de la Muela

starts drop along the Barranco de la Hoz, to follow the Rambla of Penance, under the trees that flank the canal road until the road to Alhama Statement C-3315.

Almond blossom. Pliego-Gebas road

The remainder of route is by road, the C-3315 to the turnoff for the C-25, near Bebas, amounting to El Berro (5 km and 190 m ascent), the Rambla de Algeciras. These last 5 miles were really tough for me.

Accommodation: Camping 2 ª Espuña . 32 €. In Caravaca had decided definitely to go to sleep at the campsite in El Berro. Unable to sleep at the camp with no tent, so the camping girl offers me sleep in one of the cabins. I appreciate that, being low season and be pretty empty, do me a reduced price. Cottage for 2 / 3 people very well equipped (kitchen utensils, bathroom and linen). Is crossing all the people at the end. El Berro has several bars where you can dine and supermarket.
